Structural engineering - Finite Elements Analysis
I’m a graduate student in structural engineering at Tandon, passionate about infrastructures and structural design.
I’m trying to implement a new method for Finite Element Analysis, a technique that is used for advanced mechanical calculations. I’m working on the mathematical formulation of the problem, and my next step will be to create a simple software that can read a 2D shape and perform basic calculations.
The final goal of this project is to publish a research paper in a Scientific journal. If the method works well, we can also create open source software.
I’m thinking of meeting once every two weeks for the entire afternoon. We can decide the day depending on mutual availability.
I’m looking for someone with knowledge in structural analysis, and/or applied math, and/or software design for mathematical modeling
I am planning to publish the outcomes of the projects in a scientific journal, and any team member can be co-author of the research. This could be especially appealing to undergraduate or graduate students that are interested in doing research after graduation, or to work for companies developing advanced modeling technologies.
